Thought for the Day

Courage is a virtue only in so far as it is directed by prudence.

I've been thinking and reading a bit about "courage" lately.

Another way of stating this quote, based on definitions by Merriam-Webster, could be, "Having moral strength to persevere and not be overcome by fear, through disciplining yourself with rational thought, is good and perhaps even righteous."

The most powerful and motivating words, in support of courage, are what Jesus told his disciples on a number of occasions (and tells us), "Take courage. It is I. Don't be afraid."

Removing fear, with this assurance by Christ, and by seeking God's will, is a great source of power and guidance for being courageous.

I find peace, clarity, and even a sense of joy.
